Dr Robert Sroka

Robert is an Assistant Professor of Sport Management at Towson University. In addition to advising sport organizations, his academic research has been published in sport management, law, urban studies, and public administration journals in each of the US, UK, and Canada. Most recently, his grant funded research for the Olympic Studies Centre has investigated the finance, development, and legacy of athletes' villages for multisport mega-events. Robert's PhD research at the University of Michigan focused on tax increment financing and major league venues.
Robert previously held posts in sport administration and management at Georgia State University and Northumbria University. He has instructed and assessed students in strategy, planning, sport law, sport finance, strategic communications, sport business development, and event management. Robert holds a PhD and LLM from the University of Michigan, as well as a Juris Doctor and BA (Hon) in Political Science from the University of British Columbia.
Prior to academia, Robert practiced local government law full time in Vancouver and Calgary. Robert remains a licensed lawyer in BC and Alberta. In his law practice, Robert has advised a wide range of municipalities on matters related to contracts, procurement, bylaws, events, recreation, land use planning and development, and assistance to business.
